    Very Nice Antique Leather Padded Carte de Visite Photo Album, c.1860
    DESCRIPTION: This is a nice classic example of an original Antebellum/Civil War/Victorian period Carte de Visite photo album. Used to hold carte de visite size photos, the most popular photo medium of the day. Like most such period albums, it is basically empty (only 2 original CdVs). JUST WAITING TO PUT IN YOUR COLLECTION OF PERIOD CdVs!!!
    One of the CdV has nice hand writing on the back:: "This is another girls picture that is here. Her name is Dora McKennon, but she has cut it almost up".

    15 pages, made to hold 30 standard size carte de visite photos. It has a
    BEAUTIFUL BLACK LEATHER EMBOSSED PATTERN ON THE FRONT & BACK, gold trimmed pages, and a matched pair of perfectly working original brass hinges keeping it closed. One or more of these hinges is often missing, but BOTH OF THESE ARE PERFECT. Album is in very good condition overall, including  binding and covers and pages.
