  • Top kepir cap embroidered (pos officer): 100% original antique condition
  • US Civil War era: Union Army enlisted soldier (possibly officer)
  • Condition: Good-Very Good overall antique cond: There's a few slight creases & perhaps a minor push into the tin metal surface of this orig & antique American mid-19th c US Civil War tintype photo of a posing Union Army soldier seated, w/his characteristic Union Army blue wool Kepi cap w/short visor & blue wool & brass buttoned sack coat. The enlisted soldier is seated & is posing without his assigned rifle, possibly discharged from service after being wounded or even more likely, photo'd before his military service to the nation began & his personal involvement in the struggle against the southern Confederacy, should he perish & die in that struggle. This photo then would've been a fairly expensive photo lifeline to his wife, children & his parents, letting them & future generations view him & his potential ultimate sacrifice for posterity. He's not smiling, as was the 19th c tradition of people posing to have their photo taken. He's serious & stoic, no doubt understanding what lies before him.
