    Description

4-1/2 x 3-1/4 Albumen mounted to a slightly card stock with period printed label glued to lower margin which reads: "Burying Union Prisoners Of War At Camp Sumter / Andersonville Georgia/ Photographed by A.J Riddle, August 17, 1864."  An extremely rare view of a dozen men with shovels laying wrapped bodies into a large trough. Period action views of Andersonville are practically nonexistent and therefore this is an important photographic survivor. Contrast is somewhat light, several spots around perimeter, nevertheless quite displayable. Please check out my other Andersonville Albumen.
