    CIRCA 1860 - 1865 SALT PRINT PHOTOGRAPH BY ABRAHAM BOGARDUS CIVIL WAR SOLDIER IN
    WIDE GRAND "GREAT COAT" HAND-
    COLORED BLUE COAT - IN ORIGINAL
    WOOD & GILT FRAME
    A rather unusual subject never usually found in photograph imagery from the CIVIL WAR.
    The image is by the famed New York City photographer ABRAHAM BOGARDUS and the image
    is a SALT PRINT photograph.   In original wood and gold gilt frame.  The backside has a TAX STAMP
    stamped by by the BOGARDUS STUDIO and dated either 1860 or 1865 - but definitely during the CIVIL WAR.
    The SALT PRINT is tinted blue in the jacket area.  The soldier's CIVIL WAR KEPI can be seen sitting on his right knee to seen on the left.    No guns, swords or knives present.   The distinctive CIVIL WAR  "GREAT COAT" jacket is the feature and such jackets are rarely found seen in ANY CIVIL WAR photograph that one may come across.
    The original frame is made of wood and gilt gold gesso.  There are some chips to the gesso which can easily be repair and touched-up.  Sold with no glass.
    Some edge chipping to original card stock mount.
    Wear and chipping to frame is consistent with age and use.  Image is relatively good shape.  Please see all photos as they are part of the description
    Oval image measures 8" x 6" in size on a mount 8" x 9 7/8" in size.
    Frame measures 12" x 14" in size.
