Description
Beautiful cabinet photo id'd as "Daniel Bray"
of the 118th PA Volunteers.
Bray is wearing his very large "Survivors Association" ribbon
which is marked 118th regiment "Corn Exchange" Penna Volunteers.
I am assuming the GAR medal is hanging to the left.
The 118th Regiment was very well known for it's involvement at Gettysburg,
as well as the regiment's first battle at Shepherdstown WV.
Records indicate that Daniel Bray was wounded at Shepherdstown in Sept of 1862
and was mustered out later that year, so he was not with the 118th at Gettysburg.
Bray was born in England about 1827, moved to Rhode Island in the late 1860s and lived out his life
in Burrillsville and Providence until his death in 1907.
This cabinet photo was taken about 1895-1905 in Pascoag RI, the place of his final resting place.
The photo is in EX condition, and has original descendant notes on the reverse.
