1850-60s WHALE SHIP SAILORS WIFE / CIVIL WAR WIFE ? THIS IS A POCKET COFFIN CASKET~ TIN TYPE IN COFFIN;
THIS CAME FROM ONE OF THE TOTE'S WITH a trunk of WHALEING ITEMS, THIS MAY BE CIVIL WAR ALSO AS THERE WERE A FEW ITEMS FROM THE CIVIL WAR, JUST A POSSIBILITY THAT A CIVIL WAR SOLDIER CARRIED THIS SWEET HEART ALSO;
found a captains box chest full of items' in one of the totes, thought I might sell a few, many carved items from whale bone ect, this is the first to be listed, strange item, a coffin for his sweet heart, to carry around with him; just open the casket and thier is his sweet heart's tin type photo; in full curls;
very misterious item; I have known that sailors and soldiers carry items around in thier pockets when away, in case; just to have that last look, sad to say but true;

I have been away for a while, due to illness, a while back I sold some items from john brown rev soldier items; I still have a trunk full of items and a tote; but have no more proof that he own them, I sold one of his small trunks with his name on that one, and some of his items, I bought out a large lot from Boston mass, lots of items, many items I have never seen before and really don't know what some of them are, and will try and wing it the best I can; their is a very old shave kit dated 1778 with 7 on top as I was told 7 wars, or battles marked I'M maybe a unit? In the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War 1775-1783 and is a very historical piece also with cannoballs;;
